Homework and Home Learning

Homework will be set on a Friday. Please return by the following Thursday. It will either be a Maths or English-based task.   We strongly encourage homework, as this engagement with their classwork can help children retain the information in their long-term memory or simply practice skills they have learnt.  

Reading is one of the most important things we can do and it helps with so many aspects of learning, exposing them to more vocabulary and spelling whilst teaching them about the world they live in.  Ensure any reading you do is written down in your reading diary. Ideally, this should be every day. 

PE

Currently, children are allowed to attend school in their PE kit on the days that PE is taught.

Monday and Wednesday are our PE days this term. (Summer 2). If your child wears earrings, please teach them to remove and replace them themselves.

Water: 

Pupils may have a refillable, named water bottle for the classroom so that they can have access to drinking water throughout the day.  Please note that this is for water only and not juice.

Goldfinch Times Tables Challenge

The year 2 Goldfinches are trying to learn and practise their 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables at home to use regularly in school.

Goldfinch Rock Stars

The children can use their knowledge of the times tables they are learning to become 'Rock Stars'. They can do this by using the Times Table Rock Star (TTRS) times tables website or app on you mobile phone. They can then take their place on the Rock Star leader board in school. Please also try out Numbots, it's equally as fun!
