In school support
Support from Mrs Brown (SENDco )
Mrs Brown, in her role as SENDCo, works closely with the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) and meets with them regularly to identify children who may benefit from additional emotional or mental health support. Through these meetings, children can be discussed early, advice and strategies are shared with staff and appropriate next steps are identified. The MHST also support the school by offering guidance around anxiety, emotional regulation, attendance, behaviour for learning and by signposting to further support where needed. They may also work directly with children or families when appropriate and with parental consent.
In addition to this, we are fortunate to have three qualified Children’s Mental Health Teaching Assistants (TAs) within school who have developed and deliver targeted interventions as part of our wider pastoral provision. We regularly offer small-group sessions to support children in developing essential life skills that help them thrive both in and out of the classroom. These sessions focus on:
-
Understanding and managing feelings
-
Building confidence and resilience
-
Developing positive friendships
-
Communication and problem-solving skills
If your child is experiencing difficulties managing their emotions and you feel they may benefit from developing strategies to support their emotional wellbeing, please contact Mrs Brown via email. With your permission, she will be happy to discuss your child’s needs with you and consider the most appropriate support.
