Trips
Tue 16 Jul 2019Many trips have taken place this term. Years 5 and 6 have been on residentials to Stibbington and Dearne Valley Kingswood Centre. The children all had a fantastic time learning lots and spending time away from home. Years 4 took part in the Church Festival at St. Denys Church in Sleaford and Year 6 at Lincoln Cathedral. Other activities included taking part in the MacMillan Mile at Cranwell, a trip to Mr. Scott's farm for Year 2s, and a giant orchestra day at Carres Grammar. -
Sporting Events
Tue 16 Jul 2019Pupils have continued to take part in lots of Friday festival led by Carres Grammar School, participating in Change4Life, tchoukball, cross country, table tennis, ks1 football, Year 3-4 mini olympics and year 5-6 athletics.
Kirkby la Thorpe football team have had another amzing season this year. Despite being a relatively small school, we once again competed against teams with a much larger pool of children to choose from, finishing in second place, leading to promotion to the main league next year. Due to the hard work of our staff, KLT has been awarded the Gold Youth Sports Trust mark for the fourth consecutive year.

Cricket World Cup!
Tue 16 Jul 2019On 6 June, 30 of our pupils travelled to Trent Bridge and walked out with Australia and West Indies for the national anthems. The children were provided with a uniform from the Cricket World Cup team; of a t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and a cap. As well as walking out with the teams, our pupils took part in mini cricket games in front of thousands of spectatorsand will, we're sure, remember the event for a long time to come. -
Bake Off
Wed 15 May 2019FoS led a number of events last term including the return of the KLT Bake Off, the 50/50 prize draw and a Mum's pamper night which included a wide range of stalls and treatments. -
Sporting Events
Wed 15 May 2019Many sporting events have taken place over the last few weeks with pupils taking part in basketball, Change 4Life, orienteering, netball and football festivals and tournaments. -
Big Pedal
Wed 15 May 2019Once again we took part in the Sustrans Big Pedal event leading up to the Easter holidays which kicked off with a visit from Dr. Bike with breakfast served to all pupils and their families who travelled to school in a sustainable manner. Dr. Bike kindly gave pupils' bikes an MOT to ensure their safety. The event was also supportedby our Mini Police Crew and our local PCSO who were involved in security marking bikes and scooters, and with pupils being given the opportunity to purchase bike lights. -
Live Earth Competition Winners
Wed 15 May 2019Our Year 5 pupils have been involved in a local competition raising the profile of climate change. Lead by Global Sleaford, a community group, and supported by NKDC, Christian Aid and the Sleaford Renewable Plant, pupils participated in an interactive workshop which focused on the global impact of climate change, particularly in poorer communities around the work.Five of our pupils were shortlisted and invited to a prize giving ceremony after the Easter holidays. -
Sleaford Dance Festival
Wed 15 May 2019Well done to a group of our girls who took part in the annual Dance Festival in March. Competition was fierce, with a number of schools being taught routines by trained dance teachers but our pupils learned a routine choreographed by our very own Mrs Leader and shimmied their way into 4th place out of ten schools. -
Sporting Events
Mon 04 Mar 2019As usual KLT have been participating in a range of sporting activities as part of our partnership with Carres Grammar school. Pupils have taken part in KS1 Tae Kwon Do, New Age Kurling, C4L Combat and waterpolo. -
Power Maths
Mon 04 Mar 2019From the start of the Spring term we introduced a new framework for teaching our maths lessons, called Power Maths. This programme is recommended by the DfE and has been specifically written for the UK. Teaching staff have had the opportunity to observe mastery style lessons delivered by two teachers from Shanghai.
